Ever since Chihiro’s contract with the Enchanted Blade Enten broke after his short but confirmed demise at Samura’s hands, fans have been eagerly anticipating one thing: discovering what Chihiro’s true sorcery might be.
And in Kagurabachi chapter 65, we may have finally received a tantalizing hint.
A hint to Chihiro’s powers:
The chapter highlights Chihiro’s extraordinary observational skills, which bear a striking resemblance to his father Kunishige Rokuhira’s.
For those familiar with Kunishige’s legacy, it has long been theorized that his sorcery was what allowed him to stabilize the Datenseki—a feat that no one else has been able to replicate, and subsequently forge the enchanted blades.
This strongly suggests that these “observant eyes” may very well be a sorcery of their own, akin to a visual-based ability like the Sharingan in Naruto. We know Takeru Hokazono is a huge fan of the series after all!!
What makes this revelation particularly compelling is the implication that Chihiro may have inherited this unique ability from his father – just like the Isou is a inherited technique in the Sazanami clan, or the healing is for the Kyonagi clan.
Having simply observed the Iai White Purity Style from Samura and Uruha, he was able to replicate it – atleast a rough version of it.
Kuguri’s reaction to this piece of information is enough to say that this was no mere feat – which suggests that the sharingan like ability clearly could be a sorcery trait – one unique to Chihiro and his father (and probably all of Rokuhira clan?).
But why bring this up now?
Because there’s a significant detail to consider: Chihiro has yet to wield Enten since his resurrection. This hesitation is definitely due to his fear of Samura’s Owl, but it also signals that the Eternal Contract with Enten remains broken.
This is crucial because, as Kagurabachi’s lore dictates, a person cannot use sorcery unless they form an eternal contract with an Enchanted Blade.
This means Chihiro couldn’t tap into his observational sorcery while bound to Enten. Now that the contract is broken, however, he appears to have unlocked this latent ability.
Chapter 65 could very well mark the beginning of a deeper exploration into Chihiro’s true powers, separate from the Enchanted Blades.
This is important because it also fits in with the general themes in the recent chapters. Understanding that he still has a long way to go, Chihiro is finally putting in the efforts to improve himself.
While the chapter revolved around Chihiro improving his swordplay – understanding and honing his sorcery, though inadvertently, could also be an interesting addition to this.
What are your thoughts on this development? Do you think Chihiro has Kagurabachi’s version of the Sharingan??
