Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi has received the Craftsmanship Award at the 4th annual Magademy Awards, held May 14, 2025, in Tokyo. The win marks another accolade for the action series.
The Craftsmanship Award is presented to manga that demonstrate an author’s exceptional commitment to the artwork, writing, and creation process.
The manga’s editorial department thanked everyone for their support and said that they will continue to do their best to deliver Kagurabachi.
“Thanks to everyone’s support, we were able to receive this prestigious award. When you think of manga with dedication… when you think of interesting manga! We will do our best to deliver the best work so that people will think that way!”
Comments from the public vote highlighted the series’ artistic beauty, especially the composition of action scenes and the bold expansive panels. Others also noted that the unique perspectives in panels and also the blend of western and Japanese perspectives added to the artistic dedication of Kagurabachi.

This award adds to previous recognition for Kagurabachi, which won the Next Manga Award 2024 in the Print Manga category. The series also received nominations for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award and the 49th Kodansha Manga Award.
The Magademy Awards, hosted by BookLive, recognized a total of six manga titles across categories that focus on different aspects of manga creation and reader experience, including Work of the Year, World-Building, Emotional Resonance, Cover Impact, and a Special Jury Award. The awards, established in 2021, have evolved to celebrate various elements of manga beyond just characters.
Winners were selected based on votes from booksellers, professional judges, and the general public. Eligible titles for the 2025 awards were those released or scheduled between January 1 and December 31, 2024, with no more than 10 volumes at the time of consideration.
